On April 28th, our Class of 2021 seniors attended an Academic Awards ceremony. Please join us in congratulating our seniors who earned awards and scholarships this year.

THE HEADMASTER’S AWARD: To senior cadets for outstanding service to the Academy:

THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF WOMEN DESCENDANTS OF THE ANCIENT AND HONORABLE ARTILLERY COMPANY GOOD CITIZENSHIP AWARD:  Presented to the cadet that shows the excellent character as a member of society; and outstanding behavior in terms of the duties, obligations, and functions of a citizen:

THE GENERAL DOUGLAS MacARTHUR FOUNDATION AWARD: For outstanding leadership as a senior cadet:

THE ST PETERSBURG CHAPTER OF THE DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION: For outstanding leadership, military bearing, and excellence of character:

NJROTC DISTINGUISHED CADET:  To the cadet with the highest combined average and scholastic standing in NJROTC, academics, and military bearing:

  • Naval Science IV: Cristian Rogers-Romero

THE ADMIRAL FARRAGUT ACADEMY EXHIBITION DRILL AWARD:  To the cadet who contributed the most to the Exhibition Drill Team:

JOSEPH C. GILLAM AWARD: Cadets wrote an area essay on leadership.

AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLASTIC MEDAL:  This award is presented annually to one NS-2 or NS-3 cadet at each unit based on the cadet’s overall scholastic achievements.

THE AMERICAN VETERANS OF WORLD WAR II, KOREA AND VIETNAM:  A certificate and medal for leadership and academic achievement:

 THE AMERICAN LEGION BRONZE MUSIC MEDAL is awarded to the cadet that excelled to the highest level of their abilities in the fine art of music, while also exemplifying their creativity and leadership.

THE ASSOCIATION OF MILITARY COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS OF THE UNITED STATES “President’s Medal”: This award is presented to a cadet that exemplifies the mission and standards of the schools NJROTC Program.

THE PRUDENTIAL VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD:  This is the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.

FLORIDA BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIP:  The following Seniors have met the initial qualifications for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship.  The scholarship is based on grades and ACT or SAT test scores.  The State of Florida will make a final determination of scholarship recipients over the summer.

Stanley Shallet Short Story Competition Pinellas County:

MR. AND MRS. FRANK WENDT DISTINGUISHED MUSICIAN AWARD:  To the senior outstanding musician in the Band during the 2020-2021 school year. The award was established by Frank P. Wendt Class of 42N:

THE ORIE T. BANKS BEST SENIOR ATHLETE AWARD: To the cadet selected as the best senior athlete of the year in memory of Orie T. Banks, a former Head of Lower School and Dean of Students of Admiral Farragut Academy who served for over 40 years, a medal, his or her name engraved on a permanent plaque, and a $750 award goes to:

THE GRIMES MEMORIAL TROPHY: To the cadet contributing most to the athletic program at Admiral Farragut Academy. A medal and his and her name engraved on a permanent plaque:

THE RAVEN O. DODGE AWARD:  In memory of the longest-tenured headmaster in Admiral Farragut Academy’s history, who served over 30 years at the Toms River, New Jersey Campus. $500 is awarded to the senior cadet who has demonstrated dedication to Admiral Farragut Academy through character, service, and leadership:

CAPTAIN WILLIAM R. MASCIANGELO AWARD:  In honor of the formal organizer of the first Alumni Association of Admiral Farragut Academy, who dedicated himself to bringing the North and South campus alumni together, was the first Parent’s Group liaison and the first Development Director. $500 is awarded to the student for their outstanding contributions to the school and society through academic and personal excellence. 

  • Scanlin Peyok

THE FORCARDI AWARD:  In honor of a past board member of Admiral Farragut Academy, who has been a strong supporter and active AFA community participant for over 35 years. $500 is awarded to the senior who has demonstrated exemplary character through their involvement on and off-campus and their impact on the lives of others. 

  •   Maurice Leon

THE EDWARD L. GILGENAST AWARD:  In memory of Admiral Farragut Academy South’s former Spanish teacher, Upper School Head, and Headmaster, who served the school and its cadets for over 30 years. A $500 award goes to the senior who has embodied our core values of perseverance, integrity, health and wellness, and self-discipline:

THE EARL M. CLARK AWARD:  To honor the longest-serving headmaster of Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida from 1949-1976, this award of $750 is given to the senior in appreciation of their dedication, enthusiasm, cooperation, and hard work while at the Academy:

THE NATHANIEL “NATE” LEWIS WILKINS  MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD for $3,000.

AP Capstone Diploma Candidates

To the graduating seniors who have taken and passed AP Seminar, followed by AP Research and earned scores of 3 or higher in the AP Seminar and the AP Research exams, as well as four additional AP Exams of their choosing, are candidates to receive the AP Capstone Diploma™.
