Superhero Day
Farragut students are used to dressing in orchestrated garb each week but it was just a bit different during Spirit Week.
Students wore a myriad of sports uniforms on one day. Look-alike Batmen, Supermen, Wonder Women and Harley Quinns roamed the campus on another day. Teachers dressed in Hawaiian shirts for Flock Day on another. And it was a Back to the Future kind of experience on Generations Day.
All in all, spirit week allowed students a breather from the norm as they showed passion for their school and the upcoming Homecoming week, which begins on Monday, October 24.

“Spirit week, for me, is a chance to show my creative side and have fun,” said Vallentina Galliano ‘19, a boarding student from Mexico who is the Battalion supply officer. “It also helps us come together as a student body because of the bonding experience.”
Farragut’s spirit week themes this year were Sports Day, Generations Day, Superheroes Day, Flock Day and Color Day. Unfortunately, though, the Farragut community didn’t get to experience Battalion Day on Friday, October 7, due to the possible wind and storm effect from Hurricane Matthew, which passed along the eastern side of Florida.

Sports Day
Despite missing the last day of Spirit Week, the week demonstrated once again the greatness of Farragut’s global community, as well as its spectacular faculty.
During the fun-filled events like Knockerball, volleyball (won by the sophomore class), tug-of-war (won by the senior class), and the powder puff game (won by the senior girls), junior student Zion Roland teamed up with history teacher Mark Panuthos to provide some informative and comedic play-by-play announcing. At one point, students and staff alike were flummoxed by Mr. Panuthos when he offered one pun after another that went something like this:
“Spirit Week brought to you by the Upper School science department — bringing you life one cell at a time.”

In all seriousness, though, Mr. Panuthos said Spirit Week was another successful round of students coming together to show their love of Farragut.
“It’s a great way for students to show their excitement about the school,” Mr. Panuthos said.

The Lower School students also had the Upper School students who were dressed as superheroes visit their classrooms.
