Two students have recently had big accomplishments while in Aviation Academy. Please join the aviation department in congratulating Max Kostyashkin ’17 and Dean Wayment-Steele ’17.
Max Kostyashkin ’17 flew solo for the first time on November 17, 2016 at Albert Whitted airport in a Cessna 172 tail number N54067. Although this was his first solo flight, Max has already passed his private pilot written exam and is now one step closer to becoming a private pilot. This is Max’s fifth year taking aviation. “I don’t plan to do anything in my career for aviation, it is mainly a hobby,” said Max who hopes to someday fly from Miami to New York or the Bahamas. When we asked him if he was nervous he replied, “What’s the point of being nervous, it doesn’t do any good. I practiced and I felt confident so I tried to maintain that thinking.” Max hopes to attend New York University and plans to pursue medicine.
